June 29

This morning at about 5am the wind had become more and more SE'erly and had reduced in strength as well so we started the engine and motor sailed with the mainsail only. The weather was fine and clear with only light, puffy clouds. The seas were calm with a 3-4ft swell from the East and we were making 6-6.5k over the ground.

By noon the wind had died even further so that there was no hope of sailing the rest of the day. Furthermore, the wind direction became more and more SE'erly throughout the day so that by 3pm it was firmly in the SE. Wind speed was in the 5-7k range all day. A squall of rain with little additional wind came over us at about 4pm and afterward there was nothing but fine weather on the horizon.

It is now 8pm and we are about 3.5nm from the entrance to Majuro lagoon. We are motorsailing at about 6.8k and the seas are very calm. We have about 8k of wind from the East and we have the first set of lights in sight. We should be anchored at Anemwanot Island (about 7 miles inside the lagoon and 5 miles from the town) at about 9:45pm.
