August 20

The night passed without incident after our adventures with the ignition switch and wiring. We motored through the night in wind never exceeding 5k but mostly in the 2-4k range. Just before dawn there was a promising hint of air. The wind reached 9k for a few minutes then a few minutes later hovered around 6k and an hour later it was 4k again.

It is now 10am local time and we are motoring steadily with a 4k-6k breeze blowing from the NNW.

The hours seem to slide by like molasses when the engine has been running for 3 days straight. It is now 6pm local time and we are 66 miles out of Suvarov and still motoring. The wind is up to about 7k but is still too weak to be of much help. We expect to make landfall tomorrow morning at app. 7am.

Suddenly at 7pm a 5k puff built to a 10k steady wind. Amazingly it did not fade. We raised the mainsail and let out the genoa and shut off the motor and we are now sailing! We rolled in the jib slightly to slow our speed, we don't want to arrive too early off Suvarov. We are now making about 5.5k over ground and have 58 miles remaining which will take app. 11 hours at this speed.
