September 12

Last night we sailed easily with a nice breeze in the 12-18k range. There was one brief rain shower, and general overcast conditions all night, but nothing worse. By 8am we had sighted both Maewo and Pentacost and by 10am we were through the Patteson Passage which separates them.

It is now 10:30am and we are anchored at the village of Asanvani on Maewo. There are 2 other boats here, both English. It is overcast and drizzling and so we are hopeful no one from the village will take an interest in us as we are not really supposed to be here. The plan is to leave either tomorrow morning, or, the following morning at first light for Luganville on Espirito Santo where we can officially check in. Meanwhile, rest and relaxation.
