November 22

This morning at 7:30am we raised the anchor and headed West through the lagoon toward the pass. We are headed for Majuro after spending 2 and a half weeks here at Butaritari. We could easily spend another two weeks here it is so nice. But, we are reedy to get to Majuro as Thanksgiving approaches and since the Marshall Islands are in the American sphere of influence we have some idea that we will find turkeys at the supermarket with which to make a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Of course, we are also excited about spending time in the Marshalls whose atolls are rumored to be amongst the most beautiful in the world with world class scuba diving and fishing.

The weather today is not perfect. We have had rain showers on and off overnight and the sky is mostly cloudy with about 60% cloud cover. The wind is light from the SE at about 8k and we are not altogether convinced that this morning is the best time to depart. In fact, we may change our minds within the next hour and decide to anchor somewhere else in the lagoon (closer to the pass) and wait another day.

Well, it is now 8:30am and there is no wind at all, perhaps 3-4k from the SE. We are going to anchor by the main village and wait. Perhaps later today the wind will come up or we will wait till tomorrow, or even the next day. Who knows.
