December 6

At 1:30am we are about 48nm from Tauranga and making excellent progress. Our speed remains at about 7k and the wind about 12k from the North. Our heading is about 140M putting the wind almost dead astern of us. The trip so far has been uneventful and quite pleasant. The sky has cleared mostly overnight and a nice moon has risen adding its warm light to the scene.

We are now about 18nm from the harbor entrance. It is 6am and the sky remains clear, the wind about 15k from the NNW and the swell about 4ft. We now expect to arrive at the marina at about 9:15am.

It is now 7:30am and we are 9nm from the harbor entrance. Our ETA is now 8:50am, the sea remains calm with a swell from the NE. The sky is only partly cloudy and the sun is already evaporating the dew and it is looking like it will be a beautiful day here in the Bay of Plenty.

We arrived at the Tauranga Bridge Marina at about 9am and tied up at the fuel dock since the current was running strong in the marina and the fuel dock has the best approach in those conditions. We took the opportunity to top off our tanks with diesel and at 12:15pm during slack tide we moved the boat to a regular slip.
