August 29Departed Neah Bay 10:30am in rain with overcast skies. Headed out the Strait of Juan de Fuca and into the Pacific Ocean. By 12:30 all crew (including skipper) had succumbed to Mal de Mar. Fortunately the skipper recovered quickly. The remainder of the crew lay dormant until 8pm. Motored at 6.5k until about 5pm when wind finally reached 9k. Raised all sail (kept one reef in the main just in case) and by 7pm we were booming along at 5.5k. By 8pm we were doing 7k and at 9:45 we are cooking nicely at about 7.5k in 17k True wind. We are approximately 56 miles offshore. Spotted several fishing vessels at about 40miles off, but no other boats since.
