February 10

Today we departed Malaque at about 12 noon and are bound for Manzanillo. The sky is hazy and partly cloudy with about 60% cloud cover. The seas are lumpy with several swells from different directions, the predominant swell being from the NW at about 4ft. The wind is from the SW at 6k and we are motoring at 6k. We expect to arrive in Manzanillo by 4pm, perhaps a bit sooner.

We did not, as the 2/8 log claimed we would, leave on 2/9 - we spent yesterday completing the bottom cleaning job. Our bottom is now clean, but a large area of the keel we found is in need of paint as we scraped off a bit when we plowed through a sandbar in San Diego Bay in November. This explains the massive growth on the keel - the anti-fouling paint really does work, and areas where the paint was removed are now susceptible to growth. Our new plan is to head back to Puerto Vallarta after Acapulco for a haul out to and touch up the keel with fresh paint before we leave for Polynesia.

We arrived at Manzanillo at about 4:10 and anchored just behind the breakwater at Las Hadas hotel and marina. There are about 15 boats in the anchorage and we are surrounded by hotels, condominiums and mansions.
