May 29
Today is Thursday here, the 29th. We have been in Baie de Prony for 2 days now and this
morning the sun came out and the weather has been lovely. Warm but not desperately hot,
probably low 80s, perfect in fact. The cove we are in is even more beautiful in the sunshine.
After breakfast and school we put the outboard on the dinghy and went for a ride around the
bay, bringing our fishing poles, Jonah and mine that is. Kate helped Jonah and I only caught
a single fish, spotted grouper also known as coral trout out here in the Pacific. We released
it as we have no idea what the ciguatera situation is here and we are desperate to avoid
getting that illness again (see June 23-24, 2001).
This afternoon I promised Jonah we would have dinghy driving lessons. He's tried before and
didn't do too badly, but he needs lots of practice. We are going to stay here a few more days
as the forecast calls for 20k from the SE and Isles des Pins is to the SE. Forecasts are
showing the wind back to the East on Sunday and we will go then or Monday.
