It's raining today. Oh well. We haven't been diving in three days due to it being too windy. We have been enjoying ourselves. Jonah's school occupies us from 8 to noon. Then we break, swim, eat lunch and do stuff. The other day Jordan took Jonah on a borrowed motor scooter ride around the island which he loved since it was novel for him and it's Jordan's ideal way tour an island. They met a lady who did baskets and I went to see her the next day. She makes lovely round basket bags with superb workmanship. I asked her to make me two and she said she would have them done next week. We'll see - a promise like that from a Marshallese doesn't mean much as they simply can't understand that way of thinking.

I left Jonah at the village dock with some other boys who were diving off it. I came back in an hour and he told me to come back later! He had a good time and ended the day sitting with old Joe deBrum chatting and petting the cats. I dropped him off at the beach yesterday and he spent some time playing with the various kids. It's a really safe environment for him to get some time away from us and gain some independence. I wouldn't feel comfortable in Majuro doing that but here there are only two trucks on the island and everyone knows everybody.

We are totally out of vegetables except for onions, garlic and a few carrots and I have only one egg left. We are having someone in Majuro send us a packet of veggies and eggs on the plane today. I can't wait!

We are going to be here for another 10 days and then we are headed back to Majuro. We love the diving here and it's near to the anchorage. The dive sites are so awesome we are not motivated to go anywhere else. We thought about going north (to anchor at another little islet in the lagoon) but there is not great access to diving up there so why bother. Unfortunately, there is a lot of growth stuff in this anchorage and our chain is fuzzy which means we will have to scrub it before we pull it up. I am not sure if we will dive the pass - we both are uncomfortable with diving passes without a surface person as the current can come up unexpectedly even if you think you are at slack tide. If the wind dies we might try it but from what Joe says it's not much better than the dive site we have been diving. We still hope to dive the west side of the atoll as there is a superb wall there and Joe says we will go in his boat once the wind quiets down.

Today looks like a quiet day with the rain but who knows. We are going in to "the airport" (long grass strip) to pick up our package at 11. It's a big event and pretty much everyone turns out so it is kind of fun even in the rain.
