December 15

Cabo San Lucas is a total tourist town but somewhat pleasant anyhow. Tons of restaurants and bars. There is a slightly sleazy side which is full blown at night. Its funny though when you walk around a place with a small child – you only see the nice part and everyone is lovely to us. There are lots of people hawking stuff but after spending time in  Jamaica , it seems like small potatoes.

We spent the first 2 days working on repairs which thankfully are complete. Jordan found someone to weld the piece that broke. The radar problem turned out to be a blown fuse. I cleaned the boat and scrubbed the heads which always are stinky from a passage. Today we went to the beach. Jonah was in heaven. We brought his huge sack of beach toys and just relaxed. The beach was mobbed with tourists but it didn’t seem to matter as Jonah was having such a good time. The beach is at the point and has a bay side and a Pacific side. The Pacific side has big waves and a wicked undertow. It was deserted so that’s where we went. We had to keep a sharp eye on Jonah but it was nice to get away from the mobs.  I hope to find some quieter places down the coast.

I went to the supermarket today.  They have everything here. I am still glad I provisioned in San Diego as it is hot here. Tomorrow we move from the marina to an anchorage. We leave on Sunday.

Funny Jonah story:

We were trying to get him to say “Gracias” to the waiters in the restaurant and he stood up and shouted “I hate Mexican words! They are just too hard to say!” Yes we were embarrassed. Plus he took Spanish at his Montessori school so he was just being silly.
