November 14

We raised the anchor at about 7am and headed over the top of Hook Island on our way to Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island, a total distance of about 21 miles. We are towing the dinghy (inflatable) but we shipped the motor aboard to reduce the towed weight. The weather is fair with some cloud cover but and we had a brief shower just before leaving Langford Island. Wind is about 10k from the East, but hard to tell until we pass the north end of Hook.

It is now 8:30am and we have cleared the top of Hook. Wind is about 10k from the ENE and seas are calm now that we have passed the rip tide over falls that surround the NE corner of Hook Island.

We arrived at Whitehaven at about 11:30am and anchored off the beach in 20ft of water. This is supposed to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia if not the world and from here I can see already there is a good chance this is true. The sand is blindingly white from here and is supposed to be extremely fine grained and silky.
