December 5

At 5:30pm we steamed out of Nagle Cove under power bound, once again, for Tauranga. The wind was light from the NE at 8k and the sea, in the lee of Great Barrier Island, completely smooth with only a slight chop. The total distance to Tauranga is about 108 miles and we expect to arrive by noon tomorrow.

At 8:30pm we are making good progress and are out of the lee of Great Barrier Island and are making 6k over ground in a 2ft swell and almost no sea at all. The wind is still about 8k and the weather is mild but overcast with about 75% cloud cover.

At 11:30pm we are now passing behind (to the West of) Great Mercury Island on a course of 109M. The wind is from the North at about 11k and we are making 6.8-7k over ground. The sea remains calm.
