August 30

Second day at sea all is well. Turned South this morning downwind and rolled in the swells doing 4.5-5k at 180M. After a few hours we jibed inland and went about 5 hours at 110-120M covering about 38NM and bringing us to within about 66NM of Cape Disappointment before we jibed back out onto the reciprocal course. Now heading 185M and making appx. 6k in 14K True and 9K apparent wind.

Crew is recovering nicely. Jonah is perfectly happy and has adjusted perfectly. Kate is on her way to full functionality. Our total distance our first day at sea was appx. 138NM and our second day will probably be close to it. Less then the 150NM per day needed to complete the passage in 8days.

Weather is cloudy, seas are lumpy with 8-10 foot wind waves this morning subsiding to 2-4 feet this afternoon. Now building again as the wind increases.
