This morning we left Marina Vallarta at 11:00am under gray skies with light rain. Our destination was
intended to be Chamela about 100nm South of Bahia Banderas. After exiting the marina basin, we
immediately encountered rough seas with 3-6ft waves and driving rain. After motoring West into a
wind of 14-17k, we decided to alter course for Punta de Mita and wait for tomorrow, considering
the reputation of Cabo Corrientas (the Southern cape which marks the end of Bahia Banderas).
We arrived at Punta de Mita at 2:30pm and anchored in 18ft water. The rain has stopped and
occasional sunbreaks are visible. The anchorage is a bit rolly as the swell gets in here
easily, but we are resting comfortably until tomorrow.
