January 20Yesterday, I reported the genset aux. fuel pump was again working. Well, it is no longer working. We ran the gesnet this AM for an hour without it before it decided it wasn't getting enough fuel and started bogging down. The pump wasn't working, so I bypassed it (using the fuel pump bypass selection valves). I have a replacement pump and plan to remove the old one and install the replacement today. Then, I intend to disassemble the failed pump and try to find out what is wrong in the hopes I can prevent the replacement pump from failing in the same way. I also need to check the genset's built-in fuel pump. If BOTH are not working, then there will not be sufficient fuel delivered to the engine. It may be that the built-in pump died from overwork due to the failure of the aux pump (thus making it work too hard). I really don't know. |
