March 5
By 6am the wind had shifted and we rolled in the genoa and are continuing
under power alone. The wind remains from the NW at about 6k and the seas
have calmed down considerably. The swell is running about 3-4ft with wind
waves of 2-4ft. At 8am we are on a heading of 295M and the sea temperature
is 82.5f. The sun is shining and we expect another beautiful day, although
I do expect the wind to pick up again in the afternoon. We will probably
have a repeat of yesterday with 15k on the nose and building seas.
The crew is feeling good today having obtained their sea legs.
At 11am the wind has filled in again from the same direction as yesterday
at about 12k. We are motorsailing with mail and genoa at about 265M -
about 20 degrees South of our desired course. We are making a steady 6k
over the ground and as I expect the seas to build as yesterday the day
promises to be quite rough.
